Norfolk’s perfect Autumnal escape

As the leaves begin to turn and the air grows crisp, The Harper is excited to share a series of enchanting events that are right on their coastal doorstep, all within an hour’s drive, that make for the perfect Autumnal trip. October promises a delightful blend of magic, music, and seasonal festivities and with a stay at Norfolk’s cosiest hotel, it’s the recipe for the perfect getaway to refresh, recharge and be suitably well-entertained.

Staying at The Harper

The Harper’s 32 bedrooms are a spacious haven of peace, privacy and calm. Find the room that’s right for you, dip into some Norfolk nibbles, reach for a cocktail, and relax. For families, there is also a delightful cottage – entirely self-contained.

Once settled into their stay, guests of The Harper can enjoy an inviting pool infused with natural light, a modern sauna, and a jacuzzi as well as a number of temptingly blissful spa treatments exclusively designed for the hotel by Irene Forte Skincare.

For fine dining without the frippery, The Harper’s dining room, Stanley’s, plays host to indulgent breakfasts and evenings you’ll want to remember. Where land meets sea and the seasons still hold sway, menus dance to nature’s beat with some of Norfolk’s brightest culinary talent behind the menu.

What’s On this Autumn

  • Autumn magic and folklore at Blickling Estate – immerse yourself in the mystical charm of Blickling Estate’s Autumn Magic & Folklore daily event. Wander through the gardens, keeping an eye out for their hidden pumpkins, and discover the enchanting trees, plants, herbs and fungi as you go.
  • Village markets in Burnham and Thornham – October brings a vibrant array of village markets to explore local crafts, uncover unique treasures and enjoy fresh Norfolk produce. During a stay at The Harper, guests can enjoy the Burnham Market on 26th October as well as the Food & Craft Market and the Thornham Antique & Vintage fair both on the 27th October.
  • Halloween events in Thursford and Holkham Park – Pumpkin picking at various local farms including Brookhill Farm in Thursford is an absolute must this spooky season. Additionally, from 27th – 31st October, those who dare visit The Garden at Holkham Park will be transported into a thrilling experience complete with eerie trails and ghostly encounters. Giant pumpkin patch and a magic show featuring Tess the magical cat are the cherry on top.
  • After a day of adventure at any of the events and experiences taking place in Norfolk, guests can head back to The Harper for a well-earned retreat. Savour a delicious meal at Stanley’s, take a refreshing dip in the pool or sip on a favourite tipple in The Bar. The Harper is the ideal home base for an Autumn full of exploration.
