The most wonderful time of the year is fast approaching and therefore, many people up and down the country have already started planning their Christmas Dinner.

However, what are people planning on cooking this Christmas?

InSinkErator has analysed Google searches for popular Christmas recipes in the lead-up to Christmas, along with the average prices of these meats, to reveal the nation’s favourite Christmas Din,ner meat and the results are in!

Roast Chicken takes the top spot

With over 635,300 searches in the last month alone, Roast Chicken takes the top spot as the nation’s favourite Christmas dinner meat.

With people now more than ever looking for more affordable alternatives and a medium whole chicken on average costing £4.46, it comes as no surprise that people are opting for chicken this Christmas!

Turkey is the most expensive meat

Turkey has long been celebrated as the quintessential “Christmas Dinner Meat,” but this festive season, its popularity seems to have waned. Over the past month, roast turkey has garnered just 106,700 searches, falling behind options like roast chicken, roast beef, roast pork, and gammon!

Also, with a medium turkey crown on average costing £20.95, turkey is one of the most expensive meats money can buy, so it’s no shock that people who are cooking this Christmas are opting for a cheaper alternative which is just as tasty!

Vegetarian alternatives are in demand this Christmas

Whilst many people seem to be opting for traditional roasting joints, vegetarian and vegan alternatives are all the rage this Christmas with there being 42,000 searches for nut roast and nut-roast-related search terms in the last month alone.

With some of the best nut roasts on the market costing as little as £4.40, it’s a no-brainer this Christmas, especially if you and your guests aren’t too fussed about having meat on Christmas Day!
