SAMBAZON® Celebrates Fair Trade Month

In celebration of Fair Trade Month, SAMBAZON, the leading and first Certified Organic & Fair-Trade Açaí provider, is reinforcing its commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability in the Middle East.

As part of its ongoing mission to support the environment and the people behind its products, SAMBAZON continues to prioritize the well-being of small-scale farmers through its Fair-Trade practices.

Fair Trade Month is celebrated globally throughout October to recognize the importance of fair wages, ethical working conditions and environmental protection for farmers and workers.

For SAMBAZON, these principles are the foundation of its business model. By adhering to Fair Trade standards, SAMBAZON supports the communities cultivating Açaí berries in the Brazilian Amazon with fair compensation and access to healthcare, education and environmental conservation programs.

Ryan Black, CEO and co-founder said: “From the outset, we have worked hard to operate ethically, fairly and sustainably. We appreciate that every Açaí berry is a gift from the Amazon rainforest. We have a duty to respect and protect the environment, and the indigenous people living there. “For us, Fair-Trade is more than just a certification—it allows us to make a difference in the lives of thousands of Açaí family farmers. For nearly two decades, SAMBAZON has re-invested a portion of our annual Açaí purchases back into the grower communities to support social needs through our Fair-Trade Fund. In partnership with EcoCert and through the Fair-for-Life certification, we have been able to support education by renovating and building new schools.” And through its loyal customer support, SAMBAZON has also helped build libraries, sports centers, and renovate healthcare centers, helping to improve literacy and access to healthcare.

As a Fair Trade-certified company, SAMBAZON goes beyond just providing delicious, nutritious Açaí products; the brand actively contributes to a sustainable supply chain that respects the planet and the people who depend on it. SAMBAZON’s commitment to the triple bottom line—people, planet, and profit—is core to its operations.

SAMBAZON is proud of its long-standing relationship with small-scale farmers, compensating them for their hard work. Through its Fair-Trade certification, the company contributes to the economic empowerment of local communities in the Amazon. Farmers working with SAMBAZON receive better wages, access to resources, and the support necessary to thrive sustainably.

To date, SAMBAZON has provided $970,776 USD in support for Açaí grower communities in the Amazon Rainforest, helping them improve their quality of life through fair wages and social programs. This certification maintains high standards for ethical sourcing and also helps conserve one of the world’s most precious ecosystems—the Amazon Rainforest.

SAMBAZON encourages consumers in the Middle East to reflect on the impact their purchasing decisions have on both the environment and global communities. By choosing Fair Trade-certified products, consumers can make a significant difference in the lives of those who grow and harvest the food we eat.

“We believe that when you consume consciously, you can create positive change,” said Ryan Black, adding: “Fair Trade Month is a time to celebrate the people who grow our food and remind our family of consumers that their purchasing choices really matter.”
