Calcium carbonate is a basic chemical compound that has widespread uses in different industries.

ICL Industrial Products is one of the largest suppliers of calcium carbonate, offering the high-purity product that falls under the Scoralite brand. The product has several considerations in its favour, thanks in no small part to the excellent quality of the particular calcium carbonate.

What Is ICL Calcium Carbonate?

ICL calcium carbonate, which is known under the brand title Scoralite, is a type of precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). When made, this PCC is created to have a very high purity and also to be pure on a fairly consistent basis. Created in France, the PCC is done per the second-generation GMPII guidelines. It is typically obtainable as both a powder and in granular form.

Applications Across Industries

An Industrial Mineral at the Foundation of Construction

One of the most significant applications for calcium carbonate is in construction. The compound is a key constituent of cement and concrete, known for boosting the longevity and strength of these materials. Beyond this role, it is also used in lime production for soil stabilisation and as a reinforcing additive in asphalt concrete. ICL’s calcium carbonate, with its consistent particle size distribution and high degree of whiteness, adds value to building material applications, including paints, adhesives and sealants. These products not only become easier to work with, but they also offer cost-effective reinforcement.

Pharmaceuticals

In the pharmaceutical field, Scoralite® is an API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) to treat osteoporosis. Because of its high purity and low levels of heavy metals, it’s good for producing chewable tablets, and it gives them a more pleasant mouthfeel and taste. It meets EP, USP and ICH Q3D standards, ensuring that it is safe and works.

Food and Nutraceuticals

We also use Scoralite® in the food and nutraceutical industries as a calcium product. It is found in infant formula, dairy products and dietary supplements. It can also be used as an anti-caking and whitening agent to substitute for titanium dioxide in various applications. It gives less reaction and comes cubic, allowing it to look better and have a better taste and feel.

Industrial Applications

Within the industrial formulation space, calcium carbonate is prized as a functional filler. In plastic and rubber formulations, it enhances stiffness and impact resistance while reducing production costs. Paper manufacturers rely on the compound for various uses, including gains in brightness, opacity and smoothness. These qualities elevate the appeal of print paper. ICL’s precisely formulated limestone and marble products ensure manufacturers meet production expectations without compromising performance or aesthetics.

Why Choose ICL Calcium Carbonate?

ICL Industrial Products’ commitment to quality and innovation ensures that Scoralite® meets the highest standards. The product’s exceptional purity, consistent quality and versatility make it a preferred choice for manufacturers across various industries.

Whether you’re in pharmaceuticals, food production or industrial manufacturing, ICL calcium carbonate offers reliable and effective solutions. With its proven track record and adherence to stringent regulations, Scoralite® stands out as a top-tier ingredient for diverse applications.
