With forecasters predicting that this Monday could mark the UK’s hottest June day on record since 1976, it’s clear the heat is on. Earlier this month, temperatures reached a sweltering 33.2°C, the highest of 2025 so far, sparking over 4 million Google searches for “ice cream” across the UK in the past month alone.
In celebration of the sunshine, Parkdean Resorts has also spoken with the owner of viral Lake District ice cream parlour, The Little Ice Cream Shop, to uncover the UK’s most in-demand ice cream flavour of summer 2025 – just in time for the next heatwave.
To also help Brits make the most of the temperatures, travel experts at Parkdean Resorts have analysed six years of UK weather trends to pinpoint the next likely heatwaves, so families know exactly when to plan their ice cream outings this summer.
Lake District ice cream parlour reveals Brits’ ice cream habits:
Ice cream connoisseur shares THIS unusual flavour is the most popular
Amy from The Little Ice Cream Shop in the Lake District commented, “Our top-selling flavour this summer is our Peach & Basil flavour, it has been insanely popular! I can’t blame them, it’s very good!”
With social media making new ice cream flavours go viral, the ice cream shop owner comments, “We make over 90 flavours, we even have a pistachio now and again, as it’s really popular whenever we have it, thanks to the Dubai chocolate trend!”
Amy continues, “We get a lot of tourists in the Lake District, or first-time visitors on holiday, and our Hawkshead Gingerbread is the most popular flavour for tourists, or our Jaffa Cake flavour.”
The debate is settled! Tub vs Cone…
It’s common for Brits to be undecided between a tub and a cone for their ice cream. The Little Ice Cream Shop has revealed that their data proves that ‘Brits are a nation of cone lovers’, with ice cream cone sales significantly overtaking ice cream tub sales!
UK heatwave makes ice cream sales surge
After the recent UK heatwave, ice cream shops across the UK expect a high footfall of customers. The Little Ice Cream Shop comments, “The recent hot weather has increased the amount of customers in our shop! It’s been crazy busy, but it is a great way to start the season.”
“We make over 90 flavours and in the summer season we can be making ice cream up to 18 hours a day. We tend to make around 50 flavours a week in our Windermere shop. We’re extremely busy from April onwards, but the summer holidays are truly where it ramps up.”
These are the most refreshing ice cream flavours
Ice cream expert Amy shares her top picks for staying cool this summer, saying: “With warm weather on the way in the UK, the most refreshing flavours to enjoy during a heatwave are Bounty, Cherry Cheesecake, Jaffa Cake, Iced Coffee Sorbet, and Hawkshead Gingerbread.”
