Luxury Whisky Specialist Hackstons Defies Startup Odds to Earn Drinks Retailing Awards Shortlist

Hackstons, the luxury whisky specialist redefining asset ownership and premium retail, is proud to announce it has been shortlisted for “Newcomer of the Year” at the prestigious Drinks Retailing Awards 2026.

The Newcomer of the Year category celebrates the UK’s most innovative and entrepreneurial drinks retailers, recognising businesses that bring fresh ideas, premium service, and genuine impact to the market.

With its flagship Knightsbridge store and rapidly growing eCommerce platform, Hackstons has been recognised for its distinctive approach to luxury retail, its curated and ambitious product range, and its commitment to education and experience-led service.

Since opening in August 2024, Hackstons Knightsbridge has established itself as a destination for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Beyond fine and rare whiskies, wines, and spirits, the store offers immersive tastings, private events, and a gateway into the wider world of tangible asset ownership.

Multiple sources state around 20% of new businesses fail within their first year, and nearly 60% close within three years. With these odds in mind, Hackstons has not only survived but thrived, entering its fourth year in business and celebrating its Knightsbridge store’s successful first anniversary.

By combining premium retail with innovation, education, and asset ownership expertise, Hackstons is proving that a startup in one of the toughest categories can grow, endure, and set new standards for the industry.

“To be shortlisted for Newcomer of the Year after just twelve months trading is an incredible honour,” said Alphie Valentine, Co-Founder and Director at Hackstons. “From day one, our vision was to create more than just a store, we wanted to build a space that educates, inspires, and redefines what luxury drinks retail can be. This recognition is testament to the passion of our team, the trust of our clients, and the partnerships we’ve built along the way. We’re proud of how far we’ve come and this nomination shows Hackstons is only just getting started.”

The winners of the Drinks Retailing Awards 2026 will be announced at a ceremony on 3rd February 2026 at The Dorchester, Park Lane, London.
