Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival With Celestial Mooncakes Handcrafted by the Michelin-starred Imperial Treasure

One of the most important dates on the Chinese calendar, the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates the end of the autumn harvest with family gatherings, lanterns and, of course, mooncakes.

From now until 22 September 2024, London’s acclaimed Chinese fine dining restaurant Imperial Treasure is marking this cherished tradition with exquisitely handcrafted Mini Golden Custard Mooncakes.

Offering a luxuriously textured and deeply satisfying taste experience, these delightful creations feature buttery pastry and rich custard infused with savoury salted egg yolk, and are presented in an elegant box decorated with timeless Chinese art that exudes a sense of serenity. Handcrafted with the utmost attention to detail and a commitment to excellence, the mooncakes are freshly made and free from preservatives or artificial ingredients.

Available at the restaurant only, this ultimate gift is priced at £79 per box of eight mini mooncakes. Those dining at Imperial Treasure can also indulge in a trio of mooncakes for £20.70 for three pieces.

Bringing an elevated Chinese dining experience to the capital, Imperial Treasure is the London outpost of one of Asia’s most admired and lauded Chinese restaurant groups, whose 20-strong portfolio includes two venues with 2 Michelin Stars and three with one.

Located in a stunning Grade II listed building in the heart of St James’s, it enjoys an enviable reputation for its exquisite blend of authentic Chinese flavours and contemporary presentation.

Meticulously prepared by skilled culinary artisans, dishes are spearheaded by the restaurant’s justifiably legendary Peking Duck. Matured for an average of 40 days, each bird is expertly carved at the table with thin sheaves of crispy skin followed by perfectly presented slices of meat, with just the right ratio of fat and flavour.

Other signature dishes include Caviar on Egg White & Crab Meat; Crispy Berkshire Pork Belly; Sautéed Beef Tenderloin with Garlic Chips; Braised Whole South African Abalone (5 Heads) and Crispy Rice with Seafood in Shrimp Broth. More adventurous diners meanwhile are sure to delight in the Marinated Cold Jellyfish with Boiled Pork; Braised Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce or Chilled Pig’s Shank with Rice Wine.

There are ample vegetarian choices, from Golden Okra & Lotus Root with Salted Egg Yolk through to Sautéed Lotus Root with Seasonal Vegetables, while the Dim Sum selection is nothing short of a tour de force. Here diners can luxuriate in all things grilled, baked or steamed, whether it’s Baked Snow Mountain Bun with Berkshire Char Siu Pork; Berkshire Pork Shanghai Soup Dumpling or Crispy Lobster Beancurd Roll.

Expertly curated by wine experts and sommeliers, the drinks list traverses the globe, whether it be award-winning reds from China or English sparkling varietals, with over 22 vintages available by the glass, including a Château d’Yquem 1998. The majority of the major champagne houses are represented while the offering also features a superb collection of over 30 Japanese and international rare whiskies along with a selection of Asian-inspired classic and contemporary cocktails.

Imperial Treasure’s interiors are the work of globally renowned designers, Studio Liaigre, who have seamlessly blended a French aesthetic with British architecture and Chinese cultural references. The result simply exudes sophistication, from the principal dining room with its individual ‘salons’, impressive cocktail bar and wine tasting room, through to three first floor private dining rooms.
